Oncology Visit... (4/14/2005)

Hi All,
Sorry I didn't get back to everyone last night, but we got home late and I decided to wait until today.  The medical oncologist is wonderful.  He trained at the same hospital I did, was born two blocks from where Bob was born, knows several people Bob and I know from my hometown and he has also had cancer and chemotherapy over the last year.  How about that?  The Lord continues to keep us in the palm of his hand.  This entire experience has been so seamless and timely for our needs.  Now on to the visit,  we went over the pathology report and discussed all of the results.  All of my tests on the cancer cells had less than favorable outcomes.  The cells are aggressive and there is a possibility that they may have gotten into my bloodstream.  The oncologist said that in order to help my chances of non-recurrence due to that and the nature of the cells, we need to do chemotherapy.  We want to do all that we can to increase my survival rate and kill off any wayward, microscopic cancer cells, SOOOO, bring on the chemo!!!
Bob and I are up to the challenge and with God's and your support, we know that all will go well.  The Lord remains in control and we rest in His arms daily.  We ask that you all continue to pray for us and we appreciate all of your concern.  The prayers are felt and are a constant source of comfort.  As I was thinking about sending this note, I opened one of my older hymnals.  It has a marker ribbon and that is where it came open.  The hymn it marked was All the Way My Savior Leads Me.  It was no surprise to me that my Lord led me to that hymn today, the words were perfect.   For those of you that may not be familiar with the words, please let me give you the message God sent to me today.
All the way my Savior leads me; What have I to ask beside?  Can I doubt His tender mercy,  Who thro' life has been my guide?  Heav'nly peace, divinest comfort, Here by faith in Him to dwell!  For I know whate'er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well.  All the way my Savior leads me; Cheers each winding path I tread,  Gives me grace for every trial,  Feeds me with the living bread:  Tho my weary steps may falter,  And my soul a-thirst may be,  Gushing from the Rock before me, Lo!  a spring of joy I see.  All the way my Savior leads me;  Oh, the fullness of His love!  Perfect rest to me is promised in my Father's house above:  When my spirit, clothed immortal, Wings its flight to realms of day,  This my song thro' endless ages: Jesus led me all the way!
                                                                                                                     Yours in Christ,
                                                                                                                      Sandy
